2011 SSE Spirit Wear - - Accepting Orders thru Friday, September 23rd!

Join all your friends on Spirit Friday and show your SSE spirit! Spirit Wear is only available this year via pre-order. ALL ORDERS MUST BE PLACED by September 23rd, quantities will be limited for purchase after the final order is placed.

Stetsons & Stilettos for the Stampede is Stanley Elementary PTA’s main fundraiser of the year.  It has been held annually in the Fall since the inception of Stanley Elementary in 2009.  It is a social event held at La Centerra for parents, staff, and Katy area community members.  With the purchase of an event ticket, attendees will enjoy live music, food, beverages and an opportunity to mingle with other fellow Stanley Elementary parents.  As a fundraiser, the event features a silent and live auction of items donated from area businesses and individual supporters.  This event would not be possible without the generous support of the Katy community through their donations. 

All money raised from this event goes to support the technological needs of Stanley Elementary’s effort to become a fully integrated “Smart Campus.”

Morning Arrival Update

Dear Parents,

As I am sure many of you witnessed this morning, we are very busy during our morning arrival times.  We begin our car rider drop off at 7:55 a.m. every morning.  There are twenty-two people unloading cars during our drop off times.  We need your help to ensure a safe and efficient morning arrival experience for ALL children.  Please support our students and staff by adhering to the following guidelines:

*Be a courteous driver, merge in to one traffic line when entering the school circle drive, and take turns.

*Refrain from dropping children off on Fiona Sky.  This is extremely unsafe as there is not a designated cross walk.  Construction vehicles and other drivers are not looking for children crossing the middle of the road in this location. ALL students should be dropped off in front of our school utilizing our car rider line.

*Have your children prepare to exit your vehicle as quickly as possible while waiting in the car rider line.  This morning we were unloading cars faster than students could gather their belongings, say their good-byes, and exit their cars.

*Continue moving forward in the car rider line until being directed to stop, or traffic stops to unload.  Our goal is to keep traffic flowing and to unload as many vehicles as quickly as possible.

*Cell phone use in a school zone is prohibited by law. Law enforcement officials have and will issue tickets for violation of this law.

Working together we can ensure a safe, orderly and timely arrival procedure at SSE.  Growing is a GRAND adventure.

We LOVE Bus Riders!

It’s not too late…to change your child’s transportation from a car rider to a bus rider.  SSE bus riders will be dismissed first and will arrive home promptly.  We LOVE bus ridersJ!

CPA help needed!

Are you a CPA looking for a way to volunteer?  Stanley needs YOU!  The Stanley Elementary PTA is looking for a CPA to file our 990 tax return. If you are interested, please send an email to amber.stanleypta@yahoo.com.

First Day Wrap Up

Parents,

If your child is a biker or walker, and they do not need to cross Fiona Sky or Cinco Terrace, SSE staff will release them at the biker/walker exit so that they may travel home utilizing  the sidewalk around the perimeter of the school.  For example, if you live in the neighborhood behind the school your children may make a right and travel on the sidewalk if they do not need to cross a street. At this time this is the only biker/walker exit/entrance as we are awaiting a cross walk from Fort Bend County at the east side of our school.

Car Rider parents, the KISD police department has asked me to please remind you to make certain that you are pulled as close to the curb as possible while waiting in the car rider line.  Buses and vehicles not waiting in our car rider line need to have easy accessibility around your vehicle while you are waiting.  Please refrain from blocking the bus entrance to our teacher parking lot.

Just a friendly reminder that parking along Fiona Sky and adjacent neighborhoods is discouraged.  Only students who walk/ride their bike to and from school should be utilizing this form of transportation.  Parked vehicles and children walking freely across neighborhood streets is a safety concern for our children.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Our dismissal process today was long, but flawless.  All 1,457 students arrived home safely, without error.  I would like to make another plea to all parents to PLEASE utilize KISD bus transportation.
